The weekend of the 11th & 12th July 2015 marked the 2nd time the Owd Codgers have staged a charity trial at Mallory Park as part of the circuit’s annual Bike Bonanza.
The chosen charity was the air ambulance service and we’re happy to report that a total of £700 was raised via the pre-registered entries alone!
A presentation of the cheque was made by the club to the charity and they were also joined by ex-racer Steve Parish and current BSB racer Ryuichi Kiyonari.
The trial itself was bigger and better than last year, with an increased field of riders thanks to the organisation skills of Geoff Kidd and 10 varied sections expertly designed by Bert White. This was no mean feat as the location is much more suited to its usual road racing spectacle and therefore no small amount of effort was needed by a host of eager and willing volunteers to prepare the ground for the day’s trial.
The event itself was very well received with most riders commenting how much they’d enjoyed the day. There were also a reasonable number of spectators too who came to watch the action and for some it was their first exposure to the sport. Needless to say everyone was very impressed!
The trials riders were also joined by some road racing pedigree as current BSB Buildbase BMW rider Lee Jackson rode his first trial and did very well indeed, ably assisted by Carl Baker.
